LAWSUIT FOR PRESSURE COOKER VICTIMS

See if you qualify for pressure cooker claim compensation.

Pressure Cookers Linked to Defects

Pressure Cookers have various safety features intended on preventing them from opening or operating while under pressure. The safety features, when working properly, generally prevent the pressure cooker from pressurizing or opening while under pressure. When the safety features fail, the pressure cooker may open while still under intense pressure and cause scalding hot liquid onto the customer and those in the vicinity, as well as damage to the surrounding property.

Numerous lawsuits have been filed around the country alleging defective pressure cookers. Tristar Products, for example, has faced more than 100 lawsuits, and reported hundreds of customers who complained that their pressure cookers still opened while under pressure. If you were burned by a pressure cooker, see if you qualify for compensation by calling us for a free consultation at (800) 337-7755 or complete the contact form on our website.

Pressure Cooker Compensation

The US Consumer Protection Safety Commission monitors consumer complaints and investigates companies who put dangerous or defective consumer products in the marketplace. Over the years, the CPSC has received many complaints from victims injured after their pressure cooker exploded. Despite the mounting cases against several companies, many of the products have not been recalled.

A recall does not mean you do not have a case. To the contrary, many pressure cooker companies are already on notice of incidents where their products failed and injured customers. This may rise to a wanton, willful disregard for the safety of the public which could warrant punitive damages.

Victims burned by a faulty or defective pressure cooker may be entitled to one or more of the following as compensation:

Pain and Suffering - Burn victims may be entitled to money as compensation for enduring pain and suffering. Pain can be excruciating and debilitating. From difficulty sleeping, showering and getting dressed, to residual scars, discoloration, and undergoing treatments, like scar revision surgery or skin grafting, victims may be entitled to compensation for having to go through the pain.

Medical Expenses - Burn victims often receive medical treatment following a pressure cooker accident. If the pressure cooker was used as intended and the victim was burned, the pressure cooker manufacturer may have to pay the victim's medical expenses. This includes not just ambulance, hospital, and follow up primary care and plastic surgery bills, but also estimated future medical expenses, like costs of scar revision surgery or medication.

Lost Wages - If you lost work because of your injuries, you may be entitled to get that money back from the pressure cooker company. Make sure to keep track of any days you had to take off, and also time you took off from work to attend medical doctor appointments. If you used any vacation or sick days, you may be entitled to get money for that time you used as a result of the accident.

Other Damages - Victims of exploding pressure cookers may be entitled to compensation for future pain and suffering, loss of earning capacity, punitive damages and more. Family members may also be able to make claims for loss of parental support and services, and loss of consortium. If a victim dies from pressure cooker burns, the victim's family may also be able to pursue a wrongful death claim.
